St Benedict's Parish is part of the Catholic Archdocese of Wellington, New Zealand. Our parish is an urban one, situated on the northern side of the city of Wellington. It lies on the hills overlooking both the harbour and the Ngauranga Gore, covering the suburbs of Khandallah, Ngaio, and Crofton Downs. It has boundaries on the north with Sts Peter and Paul Parish Johnsonville; Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish in the east; St Teresa's Parish, Karori, to the southwest and St Vincent de Paul Parish, Northland, to the south.
We are part of the Wellington North Pastoral Area which is comprised of ourselves, the Sts Peter and St Paul, Johnsonville and St Andrew's, Newlands.
We are blessed, too, with a long history of Catholicity handed down to us by our forebears. The area of Khandallah/Ngaio was initially part of the Hutt Valley Parish before being a parish in its own right. The parish was established in it own right in 1950. See Parish History.
Nowadays, our parish is a conglomerate of many peoples from different cultures, backgrounds and nationalities. Under the banner of Christ our Saviour and through the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we strive to be united in faith and good works. Our spiritual motto is to be a living, loving, faith community. We live our faith and encourage others to do so with the Holy Mass, the Eucharist, the Sacraments and prayer as the centres of our worship.
We are helped in all this through the organisations and ministries listed in this booklet. Many people give willingly and lovingly of their time, talent and love. You may be one of them. If not, you may consider becoming one of the many.
Mark this website as a favourite. It will help you and aid you to help others. Let us always pray for one another.

With God's blessing and every good wish.
Yours respectfully in Christ,
Father Tony Kearns
